As Melbournians come to terms with the lockdown period being extended, it is no surprise that many are feeling overwhelmed and stressed by the impact that COVID-19 has had on their lives. If you are looking for a job during this time it can also be extremely difficult to remain positive and put your best foot forward. And even those who are employed may be feeling uncertain of their futures, finding the demands of working from home whilst juggling family commitments too much or the reality of living in isolation difficult. It is more important than ever to look after your mental health, go easy on yourself and take time for self-care.
During these difficult times keeping a regular routine, getting fresh air and exercise, reducing the amount of negative media, speaking frequently with loved ones and reminding yourself that hard times are only temporary can really help improve your mental health.
We all have our good days and bad days. But on the days when something isn’t quite right Beyond Blue is there to listen. As one of the leading mental health organisations in Australia, Beyond Blue offers extensive support services to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.
There are four ways to access support:
- Call 1300 22 4636, any time of the day or night
- Send an email via the Beyond Blue website
- Select the web chat option on the Beyond Blue website, available between 3pm and 12am (AEST), seven days a week.
- Join the online forums and chat with community members, supporting and learning from each other
For many years, Accountancy Options has been a proud supporter of Beyond Blue as a preferred supplier of recruitment services to their organisation. Due to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the Beyond Blue Support Service is experiencing increased demand, with the number of contacts increasing by 68% (April – July 2020) compared to the same period last year as more people reach out due to the effects of physical distancing, isolation and employment insecurity. But while contacts to the Support Service rose significantly over the first seven months of 2020, at the same time, many community fundraising activities that fund these vital services have had to be cancelled or postponed due to physical distancing restrictions.
Beyond Blue’s mission is to work with the community to improve mental health and prevent suicide. Donations to Beyond Blue enable them to continue supporting the community and meet the increased demand of their services. Beyond Blue appreciates your support in ensuring they can be there to answer every call. If you are in a position to donate please head to our fundraiser page.
